“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 5:14-16) Sometime ago a friend of mine mentioned in a sermon that authentic Christians should be a little weird! I think he was right on the money. No matter where you go, folks should gently wonder what’s different about you. The way you always go that extra mile, do that extra thing, or tell the truth even when it hurts–that’s definitely weird in this world. What about your friends at school, do they think you’ve flipped your wig? How about your neighbors, do they wonder why you spend untold hours serving others when your own lawn needs mowing? Well if they do, Amen, and Amen! And if they don’t, if everyone thinks you’re awesome, you might want to reevaluate the sincerity of your walk with the Lord. “If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you.” Jesus of Nazareth (John 15:19) In Christ, PastorJimKilby @KIlbin8er Jim@JamesKilby.com
