I get a lot of questions about why “God let’s” this or that happen. I certainly don’t have the ability to understand the mind of God, but His Word does give us much insight into why bad things happen, even to good people. The answer actually poses another question. The real question is not why God let’s things happen, but why God would love us so much that He didn’t put an end to the world when WE first decided to go against His will–allowing Satan to have dominion over what God had created. Whether we like it or not, Satan is still the prince of this world, and until Jesus comes again, he’s making a last ditch effort to rob God of the precious souls of men and women, boys and girls. Our refusal to follow God’s decrees still causes much pain and suffering in the world, and not only to ourselves. Much of what we do also hurts those around us–especially those we love. The honest answer is that darkness DOES still reign. Clearly it does. Fortunately for us, Satan’s future has already been sealed by Christ’s work on the cross.
“But this is your hour–when darkness reigns.” (Jesus of Nazareth) Luke 22:53b
