In my twenty years in the U.S. Air Force, I’ve done a lot of traveling. I’ve actually been around the world more than once, and have even visited the Holy land of Israel twice. When I was stationed in Europe, I got some time off and went on a tour of Paris’ Louvre Museum, probably the most famous museum in the world. For me, the most exciting thing was the few moments I was able to spend staring at the most beautiful painting I’ve ever seen–the Mona Lisa. Truly, this painting is a masterpiece! The other night a pastor friend of mine mentioned a few other famous paintings and how they were masterpieces, too, but nothing on the scale of the masterpieces we are. You see, as beautiful as the Mona Lisa is, it was painted by the hands of a man–hands conceived and created by God. The talent in the man’s hands was a gift from God, and the life that pumped through his veins was granted by God. Friends, you and I are just as precious. God simply doesn’t make junk! If you think you’re junk, if you’ve been wondering whether or not you matter in this big-ole’ world, then you’ve been paying too much attention to the devil! Open up the Word of God and see for yourself!
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” Psalm 139:13-16
