Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

I had to make a difficult monetary decision today.  I did all the normal grousing about how short money is; how there really couldn’t have been a worse time, etc.  Then, after I stopped complaining long enough to consider what God would have me do, my decision was immediately made for me.  I could quote the Scripture without even looking it up.  What God would have me do was clear.  The only question left was, would I follow Him, or do things my own way.  Now, I’m not a rocket scientist or anything (no really, I’m not!), but I’ve walked with the Lord long enough to figure that one out for myself!

Later in the day,  it occurred to me that decisions not only define which direction we go with this or that, but they actually are recorded for all eternity!  Every single decision we make will last forever!   Can you imagine it?  Think for a minute… God puts it on your heart to give some money to someone, right when you were fixing to buy that long-awaited “toy” you’ve been slobbering over.  If you buy the toy, you’ll have all eternity to consider how selfish it was of you.  Not only that, but your conscience won’t let you enjoy it anyway!  If you do what God ordained, you won’t have to pat yourself on the back–He will do it for you–eternally!  Now, does that help make your decision-making a little easier?

“For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  Ephesians 2:10
