How many times in the recent past have you day dreamed about a day off, a vacation, or even a few minutes “away from it all”? I don’t think there’s a person alive who doesn’t wish they could take a break now and again. Sometimes it just feels like we need to get our batteries recharged. Unfortunately, if you ever do get that break your looking for, you quickly realize that it only takes mere seconds to be just as stressed out and just as tired when you get back. The problem is not with the vacation, but in the fact that we look to time away as a source of refreshment. I love getting away as much as the next person, but true refreshment can only come from God. And you can save yourself airfare to the islands, too! This refreshment is available whether we’re at work, school, or just relaxing on the beach. Go ahead and dream about your next vacation, but don’t get to thinking that it will be any different when you return unless, of course, you get your refreshment from the Living Water of Jesus Christ.
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, THAT TIMES OF REFRESHING MAY COME from the Lord, and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you–even Jesus.” Acts 3:19-20 (Emphasis mine)
