It Wasn’t Me!
Finding fault in others is about as close as you can get to original sin. It wasn’t “the” original sin mind you, but it’s the one that happened next! Adam immediately blamed Eve for his sins, and when that didn’t work, he blamed God Himself! There’s something about the sinful nature of man that immediately wants/needs to deflect the blame for something and put it on someone else… or ANYONE else! Of course, Jesus did just the opposite. He took our sins upon Himself even though He had done no wrong. There’s something amazingly powerful about an act like that, and not just when the Son of God does it. It’s humbling to just own up to your flaws, faults and actions or inactions when they’re less than perfect. And once we are humbled, then God’s Spirit can begin to grow in us again-that’s when we can actually slowly become more like Him and less like the demons that plot our demise. Until we own our junk and stop blaming it on others, there’s not much that even God can do.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Galatians 5:22-23a
