People

I’ve often said that the great thing about church is the people.  Of course, I’ve also said that the difficult part about church is the people.  People are a lot like children.  They can be a blessing one moment and seem a lot like a curse in the next.  So we build walls around us to protect ourselves from the pain of dealing with others.  We want people to connect with our needs on an emotional level, but we’re not always as interested in connecting with them.  We’re born selfish, and we’ll die selfish if the Holy Spirit isn’t allowed to do a major work in us.  Is it any wonder our Lord Jesus was so interested in connecting with people on a personal level?  Is it any wonder He commanded us to do the same?

“…Love your neighbor as yourself.”  Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 22:39)
