There are a lot of folks in Christian circles these days who’ll tell you life as a Christian is supposed to be something it isn’t supposed to be… What you ask? In a word, “painless.” I’ve heard plenty of people spouting it, from televangelists, to columnists, to churches I’ve visited. I’m sure you’ve heard them, too. What they’re preaching is untrue at best, and even more likely, the work of the devil. The truth is that Satan works in each of our lives at times, with the full approval of our heavenly Father. What Satan does, however, winds up being used for good if we persevere and are faithful to our God. Let’s look at it a different way. Think back to the time in your life when you grew the most as a Christian… OK… was it an easy time or a difficult one? Nuff said!
“Si Si Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Si that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Jesus of Nazareth (Luke 22:31)
“If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.” 1 Peter 4:12-16
