Where Is God?

Have you ever asked the question, “Where is God?” I suppose most people would think that’s a question for a non-believer, or someone who’s seeking God but hasn’t found Him yet. Although that’s surely true, I also believe folks who’ve been raised in Christian homes, gone to church all their lives, and even pastors and priests ask that question now and again. I know I’ve asked it. There have been times in my life when I simply could not have felt farther from God, and some of those times have been AFTER I became a confessing and born-again Christian. No matter who we are, while we’re on this earth, we will occasionally feel disconnected from our heavenly Father. That’s what we earned when we (mankind) sinned against Him way back in the Garden of Eden. That’s what we continue to earn when we sin against Him now. Still, regardless of how we feel about God’s proximity to us, He has never, nor will He ever, leave us or forsake us. He’s right here all the time, and through His Son Jesus Christ, even that rift between us and Him has been repaired.

“But Zion said, ‘The Lord has forsaken me, the Lord has forgotten me.’ Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.” Isaiah 49:14-16
