Being “used” isn’t something high on most people’s lists! And in the context most often used these days–being taken advantage of in some way–I can’t say it’s high on my list either! Girls are “used” by boys, and boys are sometimes “used” by girls. Bosses “use” their employees and some employees “use” their positions to their advantages. Even so-called Christian relationships are filled with situations where one person is “using” the other, and even husbands and wives sometimes treat each other similarly. I guess anyone who’s being manipulated for the another person’s gain might feel “used,” and rightly so. What’s most interesting to me is that we seem to do this type of thing to people all the time, and often don’t give a second thought to who might be using us! The bottom line is that if we are manipulating anyone, or anything, to our advantage, we are being “used” by Satan to do his work! Unless you’re being used by Jesus to do God’s bidding, you’re being “used” just as bad as anyone you’ve ever mocked.
